JHS Multicultural Film Festival Presents War Dance on February 14th

By Will

When do we step in to help a group of people heal from events that have altered their lives, shattered their planned futures, and crushed their spirits? For severly damaged war-torn cultures, there is never a time that isn’t a raw and open wound too sensitive for even the gentlest human touch. However, even during hypersensitive aching, cultures can begin to be restored, hope can be restored; something to live for can be found. Family identities can re-emerge.

War Dance is just such a film. This documentary demonstrates the buoyancy of the human spirit when encouraged through culturally familiar activities - sounds, movement, attitudes.

Join the JHS Multicultural Film Festival showng of War Dance Tuesday, February 14th, in the North Portland Neighborhood Library at 5 PM in the Second Floor Conference Room. Be uplifted. Be inspired. Come view and discuss one approach for piecing together the broken lives of Northern Ugandan children in War Dance.
