Screening, dinner and discussion of the documentory, Adopted - Nov 12th
Adoption Mosaic, a non-profit organization that provides educational resources and ongoing support to all those who are affected by adoption, is hosting a special event for National Adoption Awareness Month in November. This is Portland’s first screening of the 2007 documentary, Adopted.
A bit more: Adopted takes a deeply personal journey into the lives of two families dealing with adoption from opposite ends of the continuum. One family, just beginning the process of adopting a daughter from China, shares a story of hope, excitement, anxiety, love, and new beginnings. The other family’s journey is shared from the perspective of a Korean-American adult adoptee, whose exploration of her adoption experience has been accelerated by the knowledge that her mother is terminally ill. A facilitated discussion immediately follows the film with Dr. Ally Burr-Harris, child psychologist, and Astrid Dabbeni, executive director of Adoption Mosaic. Materials on adoption-related grief and loss, transracial adoption, racial identity, and attachment will be provided to attendees. CEU & CLE credit is available.
We hope to see you on November 12th!
